  • Love It - 2011 Volkswagen JETTA SPORTWAGEN

I love my TDI. I average about 38-41 MPG on a tank of diesel. In highway- only situations I yield about 45 MPG. My all-time record is 49 MPG on a 250 mile round trip. Expect about 560-600 miles out of a tank. But MPG is only half the story with the TDI. It feels a lot quicker than it actually is because of the torque. But that being said, it is no slow poke. Ingear acceleration is great if you shift quickly through the gears, but the engine runs out of steam in the high RPM range. The suspension setup is great, so the TDI is great in the twisty stuff. The only competitor that I can think of is the Audi A3 or Prius. The audis is smaller and more expensive. The Prius is slow and hates corners.

I bought my 2011 TDI Sportwagen about 5 months ago and without a doubt feel this car was the right decision. The MPG is nice, yes diesel is more expensive, but when you get 40+ MPG with the power of the TDI, it more then makes up for the price of gas. I got the GPS/iPod upgrade which I use everyday. The 2011 VW GPS is 10x better then my old Garmin. I am 66" and comfortably fit into the drivers seat. The heated seats are perfect for NE winters, plus this past winter I never had to wait once till the engine heated up before it would turn over and start up. Just a solid and well designed car from top to bottom.

  • Best Car Ive Bought So Far - 2011 Volkswagen JETTA SPORTWAGEN

I absolutely love my new Sportwagen TDI! I have had mine for a month and its wonderful. I chose a Tempest Blue DSG with the premium pkg which comes with navigation. Everything is very easy to use and I love the fact that I can control my ipod feature on my Iphone through the touchscreen radio. My son loves looking up through the panoramic sunroof. The DSG shifts silky smooth and effortlessly, and I am getting 38mpg driving mostly in the city. The 2.0TDI engine has surprising power and has great passing capabilities on the highway. I dont think that writer #1(nonickel) has a 2011 because the bluetooth system is awesome, I can control my entire phone through my steering wheel or radio!

Have had the car for several weeks and like it as much as on day 1. MPG is 40+ and love the huge sunroof. Having had Audi and Mercedes vehicles, we have good perspective for what the vehicle should drive and handle like...and it does so nicely at the much lover price point.

  • 5,000 miles, so far so good - 2011 Volkswagen JETTA SPORTWAGEN

I bought this car this summer and so far have quite enjoyed it. It accelerates and drives well for a more family friendly car than my Audi convertible. The seat is comfortable, and I am getting between 30-31 mpg on the car. I have found that cabin space ample for my trips around town.

  • Forget the sedan, try this first - 2011 Volkswagen JETTA SPORTWAGEN

This wagon is versatile and refined. Weve carried furniture, huge Rubbermaids, not possible with a sedan. Tons of cargo room when you need it, drives just like the sedan when you dont. Handling is responsive, the steering has a nice feel and heft to it, and the ride is comfortable without being too soft or sloppy. Supportive seats, perfect driving position. Interior is way too nice for a $20K car. Strong 5 cylinder engine with lots of torque down low. Gets 29-34 mpg highway. Nice clutch and shifter. Test drove the TDI, nice engine, but didnt feel it was worth the additional $5000. 13,000 miles and no problems yet. As long as it stays reliable, I will have no regrets.

  • Awesome for the money - 2011 Volkswagen JETTA SPORTWAGEN

The MPG is truly spectacular, and the car has the solid ride and handling youd expect from a VW. If it wasnt for the TDI motor, I probably wouldnt think twice about purchasing a sport wagon like this. I love the interior, and the amenities are superior in this price range. Plenty of cargo room for such a "smallish" ride.

  • A lot for the money - 2011 Volkswagen JETTA SPORTWAGEN

Drives well. Seats are very comfortable in front and back. Lots of headroom (a 6 footer will have several inches of headroom in the front seats). Good visibility. Lots of features for the price.

  • Great family car - 2011 Volkswagen JETTA SPORTWAGEN

I purchased my Sportwagen 2 weeks ago, and love it. We replaced a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid, after a new hybrid battery, and seeing what happens when the hybrid system fails. The car did not feel safe anymore. Averaging about 38 mpg in the hybrid, I wanted a larger car, but did not want to sacrifice fuel economy. I am 510", husband is 6, and kids are ages 5 and 7. We were a bit cramped. When packing up for a day at the lake, or a road trip, we could hardly fit our belongings in the car. So, the Sportwagen has solved all of these issues. Fuel economy is fantastic, there is more than enough room, and the car just looks, feels, and handles like a dream. Very pleased!

  • Best bang for the buck by far - 2011 Volkswagen JETTA SPORTWAGEN

Checked all small SUVs and most sedans out there. With my home minister we settled down for this peppy, refined wagon. An SUV would be more comfortable but no way near as sportier and fun to drive, and Im not willing to give that up. Obviously fuel economy is also better for a wagon. However I didnt go for the Diesel everybodys favouring, as I like more this well known 5 cyls one. Rattles, wind, noises & road & insulation are a big concern to me and this wagon is up there with the best about this. Known issues are very few in comparison with other options. Quality and attention to details is abundant. The sound is pretty good, VW has gone crazy with stock speakers in ammount and quality.
